Living the everyday

An email version of this news story was sent to me, and I've been haunted by it ever since. It's a long story, so here's a brief review... World renown violinist Joshua Bell played some of the most difficult solo classical works on a priceless violin at rush hour in a metro station in DC and basically no one paid any attention to him at all. Near this time he had a performance in DC; seats started at $100. Children were the only people who really paid any attention to him, and they were drug along by their parents with annoyance.

I like to think I would have been one of the children. But. Maybe I wouldn't have been. Maybe I would have hurried by thinking of how I was late for work...cause I'm always late, running through our budget in my head, wondering what in the world I would make for dinner...
I want to live each day thankful for the little gifts. I want to savor the taste and texture of food, and not just gobble them down- which is by the way, one reason I try not to eat fast food...when you try to savor that stuff you only realize more how horrible it is, lol. I want to notice the clouds. I want to take time to find the constellations in the sky at night. I want to really really savor and enjoy the time spent with the people I love best. I want to soak in the colors, the light, the God given gifts of everyday.

So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun.
